IWC Schaffhausen expands its collection with a new Ingenieur Automatic 40 featuring a deep blue dial. The model stays true to the bold aesthetic of Gérald Genta’s original Ingenieur SL from the 1970s while refining the details for enhanced ergonomics, wearability, and movement technology.

Introduced in 1955 as IWC’s first antimagnetic wristwatch for civilian use, the Ingenieur became an icon when Genta reimagined it decades later, shaping it into a stainless steel luxury sports watch with an integrated bracelet.

Following last year’s release of the Ingenieur Automatic 40 in titanium and three stainless steel versions, IWC now introduces a striking blue dial to the collection. The watch features a stainless steel case, a round bezel secured with five functional screws, and an integrated H-link bracelet with a butterfly folding clasp. Designed for both presence and comfort, the 40mm case and re-engineered bracelet ensure an effortless fit, even on slimmer wrists. The blue dial, distinguished by its signature grid texture, is created through high-pressure stamping on a soft iron base before receiving a PVD coating for depth and richness.
