At Efie Gallery, María Magdalena Campos-Pons unveils I Am Soil. My Tears Are Water, a poetic meditation on the spiritual ties between nature, ancestry, and identity. Through delicate watercolours and sculptural installations, the artist evokes plants like sugarcane, hibiscus, and heliconia—not as still life, but as carriers of history and healing.

Born in Cuba with Yoruba and Chinese heritage, Campos-Pons paints the landscapes of diaspora: memory blooming in pigment, ritual echoing through form. Her installation Sugar/Bittersweet, made of Sharjah spears and glass disks, brings a stark materiality to the sweetness and sorrow of displacement.
